"If you can dream it, you can do it" ~ Walt Disney

I’m a Research Fellow in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland (Australia). My research is currently focusing on Data Semantics and Analytics.

Previously, after a short experience as a Software Engineer in 2007, I have held research positions at top-level institutions in Spain (Polytechnic University of Valencia, 2007-2012), in New Zealand (University of Auckland, 2013-2014) and in France (INRIA & UPMC-LIP6, 2014-2016). In those years I have been working across multiple research areas including (but not limited to) Cyber-Physical Systems, Semantic Technologies and Cloud Computing.

I received a M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Calabria (Italy) in 2005 and a Ph.D. (Cum Laude) in Communications from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) in 2011.

I have authored/co-authored well over 50 research publications, as well as I have been involved in more than 10 collaborative research projects.

Web of Similarity

Web of Similarity (WoS) is an extension of the Web of Data which is able to represent and process analogies among concepts and individuals.
We propose a human-inspired model that defines the uncertainty as an explicit similarity, providing a flexible range of solutions for approximate semantic reasoning in uncertain ecosystems.

Ongoing Research Projects

The Urban Analitycs Data Infrastructure (UADI) project is developing new ontological frameworks and urban data dictionaries to underpin the next generation of data-driven modelling and decision-support tools aimed at enabling smart, productive and resilient cities.

In this short contribution I indirectly reflect on the permanent contrast between who I am and what I'm doing.
